ATOMIC MINERALS- URANIUM AND THORIUM

Uranium and Thorium are the main atomic minerals. Few other are Beryllium, Lithium and Zirconium.

QUATERNARY and QUINARY

These are specialized tertiary activities in the ‘Knowledge Sector’. This sector demands a separate classification.

THE TERTIARY SECTOR

It includes the service industry. It provides services to both businesses and final consumers. It works as whole sale and retail.

SECONDARY ACTIVITIES

These involve manufacturing and construction industries. It transforms raw materials into valuable products. Eg. conversion of iron ore into steel, making yarn out of cotton, etc.

PRIMARY ACTIVITIES

Economic activities are categorised into four groups – primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary activities. Primary activities refer to utilization of earth's resources directly such as land, water, vegetation, building materials and minerals.

IRON AND STEEL INDUSTRY

Oldest Iron and Steel center of India is a private enterprise. It was established in 1907 by Jamshedji Tata in the Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.

SILK TEXTILE INDUSTRY

Silk is a natural fibre, that consists of protein which some insects secrete to make cocoons. It is responsible for the breeding of silkworms as well as the production of silk thread and fabric.

JUTE TEXTILE INDUSTRY

One of the major Industries in the Eastern India, especially West Bengal. It is the second important industry after cotton textile.
