  • Jivani Kartik Nagjibhai, originally from Gujarat, achieved the 8th All India Rank (AIR) in the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2020.
  • With an IIT background in mechanical engineering, he initially secured the 94th rank in the 2018 UPSC exam on his second attempt, gaining selection as an IPS officer.
  • Despite this achievement, Kartik pursued his dream of becoming an IAS officer, dedicating himself to hard work and successfully securing the 8th rank in his third attempt in 2020.
  • Jivani Karthik Nagjibhai was born in Surat, Gujarat, on September 29, 1994, during a challenging time when the city was grappling with the plague.
  • His father, Dr. Nagjibhai Jivani, a pathologist, operates a laboratory in Surat. Kartik attended school in the Gujarati medium from the first to eighth grade and later switched to the English medium in Surat.
  • Following successful performance in the 12th-grade science stream, he also cleared the JEE examination.

  • This marked a record for the highest rank attained from Gujarat in the state's Civil Service examinations, all accomplished in his third attempt.
  • Despite his earlier success, Kartik, driven by the ambition to become an IAS officer, persisted and made a determined effort by appearing for the exam once again.
