ABOUT SHRUTI SHARMA :

Shruti Sharma hails from the Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh.
Her aspiration is to instigate positive transformations within her community and society at large.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND :

Shruti began her academic journey at Cambridge Primary School, Delhi, where she attended from Kindergarten to Class 5th, before transitioning to Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Delhi for her subsequent education.
Shruti is a graduate of both St. Stephens College and Jawaharlal Nehru University.
During her undergraduate years, she pursued a degree in History Honors, and is currently working towards a Master’s Degree in Modern History.
In her preparation for the UPSC Civil Services exam, Shruti received guidance and coaching at the Jamia Millia Islamia Residential Coaching Academy.

FAMILY BACKGROUND :

Her Father Sunil Dutt Sharma is an architect who operates a construction consultancy firm in Delhi.
It's worth noting that as of 2022, Sunil Dutt Sharma is also in charge of a local school called Bal Gyan Niketan School in his hometown of Basta.
Her Mother Rachna Sharma is a former educator
The name of Shruti's brother is not provided, but he is a cricketer who represents Uttar Pradesh in U25 cricket.

STRUGGLES AND CHALLENGES :

Contrarily, Shruti faced initial disappointment in her first attempt at the UPSC.
When questioned, she mentioned, "This is my second attempt.
Due to issues with the medium of instruction, she had to take her Mains test in Hindi.
She fell short of the interview call by just one mark.
Determined to improve, Shruti redoubled her efforts for the next attempt.
Applying the lessons from her previous experience, she performed exceptionally well on her second try, securing the coveted AIR 1 in CSE 2021.

After experiencing a single setback, Shruti learned from her mistakes and returned even more determined in her second attempt, clinching the prestigious AIR 1 in UPSC 2021. While she expressed confidence in passing the exam, she was pleasantly surprised to discover that she had secured the top position. Her scores of 173 in the personality test and 932 in the mains added up to a total of 1105 marks.

SHRUTI’S PREPARATION STRATEGY :

Shruti's UPSC journey took a unique path, diverging from conventional advice. Instead, she tailored her approach to align with her cognitive preferences.
Commencing her UPSC preparations four years ago, Shruti initiated her studies with a focus on NCERT materials.
Recognizing the pivotal role of current affairs in the IAS exam, she fortified her groundwork with consistent newspaper readings, ensuring she remained well-informed about both national and international events.
To bolster her readiness, she engaged in several online test series, providing valuable practice ahead of the actual examinations.
The notes she meticulously compiled during her studies proved invaluable for thorough revision of the extensive syllabus.
AUtilising the internet extensively, her primary emphasis was on honing her answer writing skills for the Mains exam. Opting for History as her subject for the Mains was a deliberate choice, recognizing its significant contribution of 500 marks to the final assessment.
Maintaining patience throughout her preparation was the key to her success.
Her emphasis was on the quality of learning rather than the quantity of study hours.
While she did establish a study schedule, she deliberately restricted her study resources. During revision, she refrained from introducing new books or study materials.
